Admissions Process

Choosing the best school for your child is one of the first and most important parenting decisions we make, and we want to make the process as straightforward as possible for our families. Below you will find a guide to admissions at St. George’s.

The first step we always recommend is to visit our school. St. George’s has a unique and very special atmosphere which we are exceptionally proud of, and we encourage our families and prospective pupils to experience our setting, meet the wonderful children already here, and speak to our Headteacher, Cormac Timothy, and some of our specialist teaching team on a one-to-one tour.

We welcome applications for pupils joining our school at any stage, subject to available spaces, from our Little Dragons Nursery aged 2 to Form VI aged 10-11. We recommend registering your interest as early as possible as we do operate waiting lists, particularly for our younger years. Pupils who attend our Little Dragons Preschool (aged 3-4) are automatically guaranteed a place in our Reception class.

VISIT US

Come and visit Little Dragons Nursery, set within our magical walled garden, and see the fun, learning and laughter in action! Our Nursery, which operates during term-time only, welcomes pupils aged 2-3 and our Preschool welcomes pupils aged 3-4.

Join us for a personal tour where we will show you the magic of our Nursery setting. You will meet our dedicated Early Years team who will answer any questions you may have about life at Little Dragons.

REGISTRATION

Once you have visited our School or enjoyed a virtual tour and wish to register your child for a place at Little Dragons Nursery, you will be asked to complete a Registration Form by our Admissions Team.

Please note, spaces are subject to availability. Submitting a Registration Form does not guarantee a place. Registration Forms are processed once a non-refundable Registration Fee has been received.

PLACE OFFERED

Offers are made in order of registration, so please make sure to register as soon as you know that St. George’s is the right school for your child. Following receipt of your completed Registration Form and Registration Fee, a formal offer of a place is made subject to availability.

Our Admissions team will send you a link to our Admissions Form and you will be asked to submit all the documentation we require to enrol your child. At this point, we also require an Admissions Deposit, which is deducted from your final invoice once your child leaves St. George's.

Once the Admissions Form and Admissions Deposit has been received, our team will be in touch with more information on starting at Little Dragons, including arranging setting in sessions and answering any queries. Our Standard Terms and Conditions can be found on our Parent Links page.

GETTING READY

We have compiled Parent Handbooks for our Little Dragons Nursery and Little Dragons Preschool pupils and their parents which provide lots of pertinent information ahead of your joining us here at St. George’s.

We also reach out to your child’s former nursery (if they have attended one) and to you to get to know your little one, their routine and general health and development, so we can welcome them with familiarity and help them to settle quickly and happily at Little Dragons.

You can find Term Dates, Parent Handbooks, Uniform details and lots of other information in our Parent Links area.

SETTLING IN

Settling in sessions are a super way for you and your child to become familiar with our nursery. Before they join us, we will arrange short ‘settling in sessions’ so they can get to know the new, exciting environment they’ll be coming to. They will meet their keyworker and some of their new friends too! We can offer as many sessions as required to give your child the comfort and security they need, and to make that initial drop-off for a full session as stress-free as possible for them and for you.

Our school community is one of our greatest strengths, and you will be warmly welcomed by our existing parents. We have an active and enthusiastic Georgian Association made up of parent volunteers who hold events to welcome our new families as well as fun fundraisers and activity days for pupils throughout the school year. Your Class Rep will be in touch regularly to keep you updated with class and social information, and you will start to receive our weekly Bulletin with important weekly information and pupil celebrations once your child/children join us.

SETTLING IN

Taster Days are a great way for pupils to get to know their new classmates, teachers and the school. Where possible, we will arrange for a Taster Day ahead of your child/children joining the school. We operate an informal ‘Buddy Scheme’ for new pupils joining us during the school year so they will have a special friend to show them around and support them during their first days.

New pupils are warmly welcomed at St. George’s where we always lead with one of our core values, kindness, and our limited class sizes mean that new joiners swiftly become part of our community, well known by children and teachers alike.

Parents are welcome to speak to Form Tutors briefly at drop-off or pick-up should they wish to discuss how things are going, for more lengthy meetings, please do contact the School Office to arrange an appointment with your Form Tutor or Headteacher, Cormac Timothy.
