    Jo Wrigley

Head of Early Years and Assistant Head Teacher

I have worked in Education for the last twenty years, teaching children in nursery to year 6.  I have also spent over half of my teaching experience in senior management positions starting from Head of Nursery to taking on responsibility for the whole school.  My specialism lies in the early years of a child's education, but I also enjoy working with those above year3!  I spent eight years at home looking after my children once child number two was born.  I have eased myself back into the world of teaching by taking on supply and part time roles. I am now enjoying being back on a permanent basis and developing my skills in education further.  When I am not teaching I love to spend time with my family and my ever increasing pets!

I qualified as a Nursery Officer in 1999 with my NNEB and I have been working in the childcare sector for 18 years. Since qualifying, I have worked in a number of Nursery settings with 2-3 year olds and 3-5 year olds, both on the Island and abroad. Over the years, I have gained an extensive amount of invaluable experience working in a deaf school and orphanage in Peru, South America. I was also sponsored in Adelaide, Australia for 4 years working and running a pre-school.

After returning from Australia I had my daughter and twin boys three years later. Before St George's I was working at Les Landes School, as a Teachers Assistant in the Reception Class.

I have been lucky enough to have trained as a forest and beach school practitioner and am very excited to be working at St George's with this qualification with the woodland area and grounds. I joined St. George's in May 2017 and now proudly lead our Little Dragons Blue room, where our gorgeous boys and girls take their first precious steps into learning and fun.

In my spare time I love spending time with my family at the wonderful beaches and woodlands in Jersey.
