Little Dragons Nursery

Little Dragons

As a parent, we know that selecting the right nursery environment for your child is one of the first and most important decisions you will make for them. Here at Little Dragons, we aim to make those first steps in the educational journey as easy and enjoyable as possible for everyone. Our Little Dragons Nursery is based in our Walled Garden. It’s bright, colourful and welcoming. Both indoor and outdoor areas are designed to meet the needs of our pupils, who are encouraged to explore and enjoy our exciting, ever-changing range of free-flow activities. It's a very special place for children to enjoy their first experience of learning through play outside of the home environment. Little Dragons Blue caters for children aged 2-3 and children aged 3-4 attend our Little Dragons Orange room. Attending Little Dragons Orange guarantees automatic entry into St. George's Prep Reception class.

In our wonderful outdoor space in the walled garden, there are climbing frames to conquer, ride-on toys on which to mount expeditions, and a flower and vegetable bed to sow. Beyond the wall, a wide and wonderful world awaits them in the 35 glorious acres that make up St. George's grounds. Accompanied by their Forest-School-trained teachers, our pupils frequently explore the beautiful and extensive school grounds and venture into the woods to discover more about the natural world. When the children have used up all their energy playing, exploring or being creative, they can tuck into healthy snacks or lunch prepared by our excellent kitchen team. There’s quiet time after lunch for those children who need to sleep, rest or just to relax and recharge their batteries ready for the next activity.

Our Little Dragons follow the Foundation Stage curriculum, 'Development Matters', from nursery through to Reception. More details about the curriculum can be found here. A ‘Key Worker’ is assigned to each child, who is responsible for reviewing and monitoring each child’s learning and development, allowing for activities to be planned around individual abilities. They are also responsible for their care, safety and well-being. At each stage of the learning journey, every parent/guardian gets a unique on-line record through Tapestry of their child’s development, helping you to keep in touch every step of the way.
