On Friday night, Mr Pemberton, Mr Goncalves and the A team football squad returned from a very successful football tour in the UK. The boys played fixtures against Ripley Court School in Surrey and St Faith’s Prep School in Cambridge.

On Thursday morning upon arrival in the UK the boys travelled to their first football fixture at Ripley Court Preparatory School. The match was broken into four quarters of ten minutes. The weather was wonderful and the host school were extremely welcoming. The match was played in good spirit and was very evenly matched. The final score was 4-2 to Ripley Court. Ben Cleary scored both of the goals with calm finishes into the bottom corner. The match was followed by a BBQ lunch on the school playing field and both teams had the chance to mix and play some kwik cricket with each other.

The next morning was a coach trip to Cambridge, to play against St Faith’s Preparatory School. The conditions were very hot again but the boys played really well and didn’t stop trying their best until the final whistle. St. Faith’s were a strong team and they ended up winning a very even fixture, 3-0. St George’s were very unlucky to end up goalless.

The boys had a brilliant time and gained a lot from the experience. The results didn’t go our way this time, but we hope to visit the host schools again next year to see if we can get a little more success.
