Primary School Open Cross Country 2019
On Wednesday 27th February, children from Form 5 and 6 volunteered to represented St George’s in the Open Cross Country at Les Quennevais.

YEAR 6 BOYS
It was a lovely sunny afternoon and there were 880 enthusiastic children, from various schools around Jersey, who completed the race.
The Year 5 children completed a course which was 1500m in length and the Year 6 children ran around a 2000m course around the perimeter of Les Quennevais playing fields.
Cross country races are very challenging and all of the children involved showed real determination and fitness to complete the course as fast as they could. It was particularly pleasing to see all of the boys and girls encouraging each other at the start and finish line throughout the whole afternoon.
This year’s event was also rather special, due to the success of the Form VI Girls team. Alena finished in third place and Paige finished in fifth place! This meant that the Year Six Girls’ team retained the trophy as the Jersey Cross country Champions!! A truly brilliant achievement.
The Year 5 girls finished in third place overall, The year 5 boys in 4th place and Year 6 boys in 11th place. These positions show the high fitness level of St George’s pupils.
Well done to all of the children who represented St George’s so well in this event. We are all now looking forward to seeing the children show their running ability in the St. George’s Cross country on Friday 8th March.
