Following an assembly last term from Ruth Kabanga and Ruth Smith of St. Clement's School, Malindi, Kenya, our Form VI pupils felt they must do something to help. Reflecting on the long journey that many Kenyan schoolchildren make to school each day to access their education, the entire of St. George's walked the perimeter of the grounds. They then ate porridge together in our school hall- making a donation to the cause. Pupils raised a total of £365 which will go towards the vital work of the St. Clement's School, Malindi, helping to fund the education of pupils who would otherwise not be able to afford to attend. The money will be used specifically towards the 'Lasting Lunches Programme' which provides porridge for pupils at the school- for some, it's the only meal they'll eat that day.
