Learning Support
Some children during their school careers demonstrate exceptional needs beyond those of their peers. Often this may reflect a difficulty they are experiencing with one aspect of the learning process. At these times our specialist teacher will work directly with pupils and help staff manage any areas of concern. It is important that we work closely with parents and we will liaise at every stage of the process. Following such consultation it may be felt necessary to refer a child to an outside agency e.g. an educational psychologist or a speech therapist.
Children who are exceptionally able are also deemed to be in need of support. Extension lessons, setting, accelerated learning programmes and tailored Individual Educational Plans (IEP) in which individual targets are identified, help us to meet the needs of these gifted pupils.
