Form VI Sark Trip 2010
The sun was shining brightly and with our resident Sark expert on board, thank you again Mr Balderson, we set off to Sark first thing on Monday morning. Unfortunately the sea was very lumpy and bumpy and one or two of us succumbed to a little bit of sea sickness. Green faced we alighted onto the beautiful island of Sark and headed straight to Sark school to say hello and see how they do things. There are 48 pupils currently on role and all classes are mixed age groups from Reception to Year 10; some of their pupils are studying for their GCSEs. We thought we had small classes at St George’s but at Sark school they have classes of just 1 or 2 pupils! They have good links with Guernsey where they take the actual exams. A quick packed lunch on the school field was followed by a walk along the busy high street (four shops along a dirt track) where we purchased our souvenirs.

Then it was off to take a horse and cart ride along the north coast of the island where the views of Herm were spectacular. To ensure we had been around the whole island we walked briskly to the causeway (La Coupée) to Little Sark, again more spectacular views. Time had flown by and we had to frog-march the children to the harbour to catch our boat home on time and deliver the children back safely to mums and dads. A fantastic time was had by all.
