Cross Country - March 2010

ST GEORGE’S PREPARATORY SCHOOL ANNUAL CROSS COUNTRY 2010

St George’s recently held their annual school inter house cross country through the school grounds.  Every child from Form I to VI took part.  All Key Stage 2 pupils who finished the course gained points for their house.  Key Stage 1 pupils enjoyed team relays around the lawn.  The winners in Form I were the Orange team of Tamsin Hollyman, Blake Khahkria, Eli Ireland and James Cushing in a time of 2.49min.  The Reds, Evangeline James, Toby Baillon, Sophia Patidar, Digby Buckley, Hugo van Zeggerren and Oliver Cawley, were the winning team in Form II in a time of 4.42min 
Forms III and IV competed individually running through the woods on the medium course.  The winning Form III girl was Amber Overland 3.29min, followed by Thea Kembery and Zara Le Cornu third.  In the boys’ race William McGowan won in a time of 3.12min followed by Flinn Tiefenthal who just edged Joshua Linden into third place on the finish line.  The Form IV girl winner was Jess Henderson in a time of 3.06min followed by Emily Beal and in third place Claudia Hassett.  George Colbeck-Welch led the way in the Form IV boys’ race in a time of 2.58min with Ben Daniels second and Maxime Bouten third.
Forms V and VI ran the longer course which includes a steep climb up through the woods from the bottom of St Peter’s Valley.  Alia Byron won the Form V girls’ race in a time of 4.24min followed by India King, and Jaimie McIntosh in third place.  In the boys’ race Michael Borman won in a time of 4.08min.   Jack Nicholls was second and Thor Tiefenthal was third.   There was an exciting finish in the Form VI girl’s race when Leonah Duffy won after sprinting to the line, just edging leader Sophia Bourne into second place, in a time of 4.41min.  Hannah Patel came in third.  In the Form VI boys’ race Joshua Daniels set a fast pace and a new school record of 3.49min knocking 10 seconds off the long standing record.  Louis O’Hara was second and Jordan Ramsay third. Headmaster, Mr. Colin Moore, congratulated all the children on their efforts and their team spirit and awarded medals to the first three in each race and the following cups:-
