Giving at Christmas 2009
Giving at Christmas
Mr Padden joined our assembly on Wednesday 9th December to receive Christmas hampers on behalf of the Grace Trust. The hampers were made up of gifts generously donated by pupils, parents and staff to the Giving Tree which was located outside the school office. Our senior pupils (Form VI) spent their break times sorting the presents under the direction of Mrs Sue Jones.
Mr Padden told our pupils how their gifts brought happiness and joy to people in Jersey who would be cold and hungry this Christmas. He spoke of homeless families, of families who lived in the dark because they couldn’t afford electricity and of separated families where the hamper was the only gift under the Christmas tree. The children listened as he described how an old lady broke down in tears when she was handed her hamper.
Pupils, parents and staff have once again contributed generously to our Giving Tree Appeal and all Form VI were seen busily employed loading the remaining Christmas hampers into Mr Padden’s van after assembly. Well done Form VI and thank you to everyone who has helped to make Christmas extra special for
some local families !
