It takes a very special person to work with the youngest pupils in a school and Christine Hawkins is a very special person indeed.  After twelve years of dedicated service at St George’s, Christine has decided to retire from teaching at the end of the school year.  In the five years that it has been my privilege to work with Christine, I have come to admire and respect her as a caring, conscientious professional whose enthusiasm for her children shines through.  She has led St George’s Nursery by example and can be proud that it enjoys a pre-eminent position on the Island and a reputation for excellence.

Thirty four years ago, Dominique Mills set up home in Jersey having made the short journey from her homeland of France.  She joined St George’s in 1988 and has taught French throughout the school for the last twenty-two years.  After inspiring generations of our children, Mme Mills has decided to retire at the end of the school year and enjoy a well-earned rest.  Dominique is an exceptional lady; tremendously skilled whether working with children as young as three or hulking thirteen year olds, thoroughly professional and wholly committed.  I recently joined Dominique on our annual trip to France with Form VI and I was amazed by her energy, her enthusiasm and her obvious love for teaching.
