GA Summer Fair 09
All the fun of the fair...and so it was!! St George’s was most definitely the place to be on Saturday afternoon, when the Georgian Association held its famous Summer Fair. As has become tradition, the fair was opened with the school choir welcoming Alisha Bush, Miss St Peter, who very kindly deputized for Miss Battle this year.
In a word, the fair was quite simply ’stunning’. There was a fantastic mix of fun, games, entertainment and delicious food. From archery to swingboats, BBQ to hog roast, Pimms to Frutinis, magnificent Clydesdales to delightful piglets, traditional children’s races and bouncy castles, sideshows galore and even some giant hamster balls to roll around in; this year’s fair had something for everyone. Fabulous entertainment was provided in the form of Royston’s Balloon Magic show, which is becoming something of a regular fixture as the children love his show. Equally enthralling was the brilliant display of Kenpo Karate from Roy MacDonald’s Centre of Excellence and a super performance from the Five Plus Concert Show Band, who had the crowd swaying and tapping their feet to the music. Mr Mouse and Pierson the Fox even put in an appearance, and the afternoon was rounded off nicely when over sixty balloons were released with the promise of a prize to the owner of the one travelling the greatest distance. There was a very special atmosphere to the afternoon and the stunning lawn of the Manor was packed with happy families enjoying the fun to the very last minute - in fact, we had to ask people to leave so we could begin the clear-up! It was a superb effort by everyone, and a huge thank you to all who participated and helped make this truly the best fair ever!
