Anne Haden
After leaving college, where I specialised in Geography and PE, I taught in South Africa, Bahrain and Zambia before settling back in Jersey with my young family. I have a Certificate in Education: Geography and PE and a BSc (Hons) from the Open University. I undertook some supply teaching before deciding to return to full time teaching. Before arriving at St. George’s, I gained much experience when teaching at a number of States of Jersey primary schools.
Besides being a Form II teacher, I am the Key Stage I Co-ordinator and Geography Co-ordinator and a member of the Senior Management Team. I am responsible for running the Chess Club, the highlight of which is preparing for the Island Chess Championships each year. In the summer I run the Gardening Club and, depending on the weather, cultivate a corner of the School’s wonderful grounds with wildlife friendly plants.
My particular interests are in the environment and gardening. For me the great attractions of teaching at St. George’s include the stunning woodlands and grounds which give plenty of scope for including outdoor activities in my teaching day. The outdoor classroom in particular now allows a range of activities that provide tremendous opportunity to share my love of all things ’environmental’.
