GA Car Boot Sale - Sept 08
Yet again, the sun shone brightly for our usual car boot sale this September. This time we sold 27 pitches, which is a little lower than in previous sales, and was probably due to fierce competition in the Car Boot stakes this time – a sale at Durrell and at St Saviour’s Hospital on the same day may have diluted the customer base a little. Numbers visiting were also down, but this may be attributable to the weather being fantastic, and other things going on in the Island – Dragon Boat racing at the harbour, and Motor-X at Sorrell, for example. We can’t all be at the same place at the same time!!
That being said, our car boot was still a very successful event. The atmosphere was, as usual, warm and welcoming, and the children had great fun looking for bargains. The BBQ and Tea and Cake Stalls proved to be very popular once again, and in all we took £725. With expenses taken into account, we should clear a profit of around £400, so not bad for a morning’s work!
Special thanks this time go to Form III parents, in particular Tracy Beal and Ushma Patel on the BBQ and Carolein Colbeck-Welch, Emma Sanders, Alison Devy and Vyjanti Navsaria on the Tea and Cake stall. Thank you to Natalie Duffy for the loan of the BBQ. Special thanks also to all those parents who made brilliant cakes for us - you never let us down! The final thank you goes to all those who booked pitches and contributed in that way, and to those who came along and supported us. It is all very much appreciated!
All in all, not a bad morning’s work! The next sale is due in April 2009, so look out for details on that in due course.
Kind regards
