GA Venetian Ball Report

The theme this year was a Venetian Masked Ball, and everyone entered into the spirit of the occasion - a magnificent variety of masks were worn by the guests from elaborate affairs with sparkles and feathers, to a couple of Batmen and Spidermen!  Drinks and canapes were served on the lawn at the start of the evening, and a four piece quartet played to set the tone.  Guests mingled happily, relieved that the forecast rain did not arrive just yet.

Upon entering the marquee, guests were greeted with the sight of a traditional  Gondola adorning the stage area, and scattered around, Venetian-style poles added to the theme.  Guests enjoyed a super meal served by Jersey Potteries’ staff dressed in the garb of gondaliers, and this all added to the whole authentic feel.  The wine flowed freely, and after a drink of Limoncello (or two, or three....) to finish, dancing began to a live band, Wavelength, playing this year.

Of course, Trevor Griggs compered the event in his own inimitable style, masterminding the auction and raffle, and he was presented with a silver microphone mounted on a plinth to thank him for all his contributions over the years (next performance at the Summer Fete!).

Thank you to the GA for organising yet another superb event – many saying that this was the best Ball they had attended.  The live band was a huge success, and as can be seen from the photos, everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening.  All funds raised from this event will go towards the building of an assault course in the woods for the children to enjoy.
