Kids In Space
Forms III and IV have been working on the musical play "Kids in Space" in their Drama lessons this term. They had made such progress with the songs that we felt it was too good to keep under wraps and knew that the rest of the School would enjoy an informal performance.
The play tells the story of a group of space cadets who are sent on their first mission into space to repair some unruly androids on the moon. The songs take us from the launch of the spacecraft to the first encounter with the "out of control" androids, the Charleston-like moon-hopping dance, the ’planet round’, an emotional goodbye before returning to the "under control" androids.
The children sang with gusto, energy and obvious enjoyment. One of the highlights had to be Loic Hanby’s rendition of "I’m Different" by Specs, the only well-behaved little robot. He sang with such emotion and feeling that some of the parents in the audience had difficulty holding back the odd tear or two. The planet round was sung in two parts with astounding confidence and the finale of "The First Kids In Space" was outstanding.
Congratulations to the children for putting on such a stunning and memorable performance!
