Welcome to St George’s
Children are at the centre of all that we do at St George’s Preparatory School. We believe that every boy and girl has the ability to excel in his or her own way; it is our privilege to help them to achieve their full potential and to encourage them to take as much pleasure in the success of others as they do in their own. We do not aim to do this alone but look to work closely with parents in partnership.
Choosing the right school for their son or daughter is one of the most important decisions a parent will make. My staff and I are always delighted to show parents around our School, to answer their questions and to discuss the needs of each child whether they are already a pupil or if they are thinking of joining us at La Hague Manor.

A word from our Chairman
Securing the freehold to La Hague Manor means so very much to our school. The days ahead are full of hope and opportunity; already exciting new projects are being planned that will enrich the lives of our boys and girls, and add to the quality of experience they enjoy......click here
Assistant Bursar required at
St George's
Following the recent purchase of La Hague Manor and its grounds, the Board of Directors is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced person to join our hard working management team. These are exciting days at St George's and the successful applicant will need to have plenty of energy and vision as we are busy drawing up plans for the next 5, 10, 15 years. Please visit 'Career Opportunities' or click here for further details.
Lieutenant Governor General Sir John McColl KCB, CBE, DSO and Lady Gene McColl to visit
St George's
We are delighted to announce that his Excellency General Sir John and Lady Gene McColl will visit St George’s for a couple of hours on Tuesday 7th February. I am very much looking forward to showing them our wonderful school and introducing them to our pupils and staff.
I imagine the visit will be of particular interest as I believe Lady McColl was previously a teacher.
The Week Ahead
For the benefit of new parents I should explain that each week I reflect, as Headmaster, on the trials and tribulations of the previous week whilst looking forward with great enthusiasm to the week ahead. For the latest report click here
School Meals
The School is proud to offer a cooked meal to each pupil and staff member every day. This important social occasion helps the bonding process and teaches important social skills. We remain committed to quality and strive to offer healthy options which are interesting and appetising. For this week’s menus click here>>

Musical Chairs
Congratulations to Hendrik Ashbrooke (Form IIH) who came first in a novel interpretation of musical chairs at Le Claire riding stables. Contestants had to ride to music and dismount to find a chair when the music stopped.
RNLI Cake Sale
We are having a Cake Sale on Thurs. 9th Feb. The money collected will be added to that raised by Mrs Alison Cooper (Reception teaching assistant) when she runs the London marathon. Please contact Alison directly or leave a message with Ann Banahan in the office if you would like to support her.
Readathon
We will be supporting CLIC Sargent, Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity and Readwell by holding a sponsored ‘Readathon’. This is something that we do every year and the money raised will help children who are seriously ill and their families. This week, children from Nursery to Form VI will each receive a letter giving full details of the appeal and a sponsor form. Sponsorship money should be returned to the school office by Monday 27th February.
Please share as many books as you can with our very young children and encourage older boys and girls to read as many books as possible over this period. This is an extremely worthwhile cause and, of course, it is great to promote reading over the half term break.
